Estate Planning Lawyer

Serving Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts

As a boutique law firm we limit our practice to estate, tax, business, charitable, and protection planning and administration for successful individuals and families.

Foundation Estate Plan

A Foundation Estate Plan is the base for all planning. We believe that a Foundation Estate Plan should provide first for your needs, and then allow you to give what you have to whom you want, the way you want and when you want, while saving every last dollar of income, gift and estate taxes, costs and administrative fees possible. We help our clients develop and put in place a Foundation Estate Plan that accomplishes their goals and objectives.

Advanced Estate Planning

For many people, a Foundation Estate Plan is sufficient for their needs. Others may want or need to add Advanced Estate Planning elements to their overall plan. Many clients establish irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), family limited partnerships (FLPs) and charitable trusts. Others may need business succession planning, asset protection planning, charitable planning, gift tax planning special needs trusts and multi-generational planning. We are experienced in using Advanced Estate Planning techniques and tools.

Wealth Strategies Planning

We have found that clients of substantial means often have complex estate plans which resemble a patchwork of financial, charitable, trust and other ad hoc planning techniques. Clients wonder what role the various elements play in their overall plan, and whether these elements work together or at cross-purposes. Our Wealth Strategies Planning model integrates and analyzes all elements of a client's current plan and projects how it will perform over time. From that baseline we can recognize gaps in planning and point out opportunities for improvement.

Estate Administration

No one can take away the pain of losing a loved one. We can help with the many details of coping with a death by shouldering the legal and administrative burdens of guardianships and probate and non-probate trust and estate administration. We also provide knowledgeable and compassionate counsel to our clients as they prepare for a new future.

Tax Controversies

The Internal Revenue Service is charged with administering the Internal Revenue Code. Tax controversies arise when the IRS and a taxpayer disagree as to the application of the tax laws in a particular situation. We are experienced in handling tax controversies at all levels of administrative review within the IRS and in tax litigation in the federal courts.

Other Specialized Services

We provide many other services, including Medicaid Planning, Trustee Training and our Senior Assistance Service.

We invite you to contact us by telephone (401-331-5050) or email to find out more about our capabilities in these areas.
